Yesterday UNOPS announced Origin by Ocean as one of five winners in the global innovation challenge, with the theme” ADVANCING RESILIENT INFRASTRUCTURE WITH TECHNOLOGY IN THE FACE OF CLIMATE CHANGE”. Origin by Ocean and its marine biomass refinery technology receives with this award international recognition, attention and the support from the UNOPS Global Innovation Centers. This prestigious award offers Origin by Ocean the opportunity to participate in the UNOPS Innovation incubation program, access to global customers, investors and potential partners.

It all started January 2020 when Origin by Ocean submitted for the challenge.
This has been an extremely fascinating innovation challenge for us, for many different reasons. First of all, we were really hesitant to participate due to time restrictions. However, after considering what we might miss out on we decided to participate. Just two days to-go before the submission deadline last winter, we made the decision to participate. Although both of us somewhat worried about if we are going to be competitive. However, we submitted with our Nauvu® Process, explaining our biomass refinery technology. We gave this innovation challenge our best. Throughout the spring we submitted additional details, about our innovation and scale-up potential to the UNOPS Innovation Center, Lund, Sweden. After this, the tough qualifying rounds began. All of a sudden during the summer time we find our selves as one of the top 26 companies, going forward.
Some time during mid-September, we got the great news, that we are amongst the top 17 companies. And now today, this fantastic news. Today, we are one of the winners. One of the top 5 companies from around the world. How fantastic is this not?! The down selection was made out of hundreds and hundreds of companies, from the start. We feel extremely humble and honoured about this award. Obviously, this is a great recognition of the work that we are doing. Above all, when we consider that this award comes from the organisation behind all of the SDG’s.
Now, we and our whole team are energetic and motivated to strive forward.
